Mr Naresh Joshi is Consultant Oculoplastic surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Trust London and Honorary Consultant to the Royal Marsden. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London.

He is a founder member of the British Ophthalmic Plastic surgical Society (BOPSS), and a past president of the society. Other memberships include BAAPS , ASOPRS, APSOPRS .

Currently, he represents the Royal College of Ophthalmologists on the BSI (British Standards Institute) and CEN (Communite European Normalization) committees for the regulation of safety in aesthetic procedures. He has an interest in periocular aestheic surgery.

Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon Moorfields Eye Hospital

Geoffrey Rose graduated as Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology, with first-class honours, in 1976. He qualified in Medicine at King’s College Hospital, London, in 1979 and subsequently gained experience in Internal Medicine with award of Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1982. Postgraduate ophthalmic training was undertaken at King’s College Hospital, St Thomas Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital, with award of Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1985 and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists at its foundation in 1988. In 1990 the University of London granted an MS doctorate for his research on corneal endothelial changes after cataract surgery and, in 2004, awarded him a Doctor of Science in Ophthalmology and Ophthalmic Surgery.

Appointed as consultant surgeon to Moorfields Eye Hospital in 1990, Geoffrey Rose has served as Director of the Adnexal Service, and is currently the senior consultant specialising in orbital and lacrimal diseases. The unique clinical case-mix at Moorfields has provided opportunity for widespread research interests and publication of over 200 papers and 30 chapters on adnexal disease. He lectures widely at national and international level, has presented various named and guest lectures. In 2004, he was awarded the Lester Jones Anatomy Award of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (of which he is an honorary fellow). Professor Rose is a Senior Research Fellow of the Biomedical Research Centre of the Institute of Ophthalmology with University College, London.

Professor Rose is President Elect for the European Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, and for 8 years served as the British Council member of this group. He is also a Past-President of the British Oculo-Plastic Surgical Society.

Colin Vize is a consultant Oculoplastic Surgeon and Senior Lecturer at Hull Royal Infirmary.

He has been an ever present at BOPSS since its inception and is enjoying the role of BOPSS Honorary Secretary.

Mr. Tim Taylor, Consultant Radiologist, Nottingham

Asst. Prof. Andrea Kossler, Stanford, USA

Andrea Lora Kossler, MD, is Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Stanford University School of Medicine and Director of the Ophthalmic Plastic, Reconstructive Surgery and Orbital Oncology Service at the Byers Eye Institute at Stanford. She specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the forehead, mid-face, and eyes and has a special interest in aesthetic medicine and thyroid eye disease. Andrea has been in practice for over 8 years and treats adults and children with oculoplastic conditions. Dr. Kossler’s research interests include thyroid eye disease, orbital oncology, and neurostimulation for ocular surface disease.

Andrea is the Co-Director of the Thyroid Eye Disease Center at Stanford Hospital Center where she works together with a multidisciplinary team including an endocrinologist and radiation oncologist to provide patient centered care to patients diagnosed with thyroid eye disease. She is also the Director of the Stanford Aesthetic Eye Surgery Center where she specializes in cosmetic surgery and aesthetic treatments of the eyelids and face.

She earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine where she graduated summa cum laude and valedictorian of her class. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida where she graduated with highest honors. She completed her internship in internal medicine at the Mount Sinai Medical Center and her residency in Ophthalmology at the number one ranked Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She continued at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute to complete a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive surgery and served as a Clinic Instructor of Ophthalmology.

Outside of work Andrea enjoys time with her husband, two daughters and dog Roxy.

Giorgio Albanese is the newly appointed Oculoplastic and Orbital Consultant at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UK. Giorgio has been working as Senior Fellow in Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery at University Hospitals of Leicester and he was the former Oculoplastics Fellow at Nottingham University Hospitals, where he gained extensive experience across the full range of eyelid, lacrimal, reconstructive, orbital and paediatric oculoplastic surgery.

Giorgio has spent most of his training between Italy, USA and UK where he decided to pursue his career as oculoplastic and orbital surgeon. Giorgio has developed a strong interest in clinical research, as clearly reflected by his publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is also reviewer for the European Journal of Ophthalmology and member of the Italian Society of Oculoplastic Surgery (SICOP). Giorgio has attended as speaker many national and international meetings, including BOPSS and ESOPRS.

Giorgio is an avid runner with a background as 400mt athlete and this year he is organising the inaugural 5k BOPSS run.

Miss Helen Garrott, Bristol

Helen Garrott completed her ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, Australia before undertaking oculoplastic and orbital fellowships in Bristol and at Moorfields Eye Hospital. She has worked as an oculoplastic consultant at Bristol Eye Hospital since 2010 and performs a wide range of oculoplastic, orbital and lacrimal surgery. She has a special interest in thyroid eye disease and was formerly Chairman of the Thyroid Eye Disease Charitable Trust.

Her extracurricular interests include squash, oil and watercolour painting.

Professor Richard Collin, UK

Mrs Katya Tambe is an adult and paediatric oculoplastic consultant at the Nottingham University Teaching Hospitals. She has a keen interest in paediatric oculoplastics, facial nerve palsy and peri-ocular reconstructions. She runs a busy paediatric oculoplastic service at NUH and works closely with the Moh’s surgeons in the reconstructions following periocular tumour excisions.

In the private sector she performs surgical blepharoplasties and the full range of oculoplastic surgery, specialising in personalised aesthetic surgery with a focus on natural outcomes.

Mrs Tambe trained in India where she received the gold medal for Ophthalmology at the Diplomate of National Board examinations. She then completed her specialist training in the West Midlands Deanery. She is one of the few dual trained oculoplastic surgeons having done a Fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Oculoplastics Fellowships at Leicester and Moorfields. Visiting Fellowships to Philadelphia and Toronto further enhanced her paediatric oculoplastic experience.

She conducts a popular annual oculoplastic cadaveric dissection course in Nottingham along with colleagues from the East Midlands. Mrs Tambe supervises the Nottingham Oculoplastic Fellowship programme with her colleagues. She is the joint head of service for the Department of Ophthalmology in Nottingham. She currently chairs the Ophthalmic League of friends Charity, of the Queens Medical Centre, which she is very passionate about.

Dr. Quaranta-Leoni is the Director of the Adnexal and Orbital Service in the Dept. of Ophthalmology of Villa Tiberia Hospital in Rome and has a commitment to teaching, actively participating in residents training in adnexal disease.

He is the President Elect of ESOPRS, Past President and Past Secretary of SICOP (Italian Oculoplastic Surgery Society), International Associate Member of ASOPRS.

He attended Medical School at Catholic University of Rome – A. Gemelli Hospital, graduating with first-class honors in 1988. His postgraduate ophthalmic training was undertaken at the Department of Ophthalmology of Catholic University of Rome. He was awarded the Diploma of Ophthalmology with first-class honors in 1992 and undertook further training in Strabismus Surgery under the care of late Prof. Bruno Bagolini in 1992-1994.

Dr. Quaranta-Leoni attended a two-year Fellowship in Oculoplastic, Lacrimal and Orbital Surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital – Londonin 1995-97 under the care of John Wright, Richard Collin, Geoffrey Rose and Michèle Beaconsfield.  In 2014 he has been chosen to receive the ASOPRS Merrill Reeh Pathology Awardfor his work on: Management of Porous Orbital Implants Requiring Explantation: A Clinical and Histopathological Study. OPRS, 30(2):132-136, 2014.

His fields of interest are socket surgery, paediatric oculoplastic surgery, eyelid and orbital tumours, lacrimal surgery, thyroid eye disease.

He is married with two children and speaks fluent English, Italian, Spanish and French.

Prof. Gangadhara Sundar, Singapore

Dr Ganga obtained his degrees from Madras Medical College, postgraduate ophthalmology training from the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology & Govt Ophthalmic Hospital, Chennai, India followed by a residency and advanced subspecialty training from the Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, USA. He specializes in the diseases and surgery of the Eyelids, Lacrimal system, Orbit & Oculofacial diseases and Ophthalmic Oncology. Committed to clinical and surgical excellence, he is a regional and international expert in disorders such as orbital trauma, ophthalmic oncology, congential and acquired eyelid disorders, lacrimal system disorders, anophthalmic sockets, thyroid eye disease, facial palsy and esthetic orbito-facial rejuvenation (tissue fillers, Botox, blepharoplasty, brow & midface lifts). Some special interests include minimally invasive surgery (eg. endoluminal duct recanalization (ELDR)), complex orbital trauma reconstructions (navigation surgery, bioresorbable implants and customized implants), medical and surgical rehabilitation of thyroid eye disease, and vascular lesions of the orbit.

He travels widely in Southeast Asia, AsiaPacific and as an international faculty at various orbital and craniomaxillofacial conferences, symposia and courses raising the level of care of orbital and orbitofacial disorder and has contributed chapters to several textbooks in his field. He serves in several leadership capacities in various national, regional and international professional societies.
