Simon Woodruff

Mr Simon Woodruff is a Consultant Oculoplastic and Ophthalmic Surgeon with over 20 years experience in this field. He qualified from St Mary’s Hospital, London in 1991 and underwent specialist Ophthalmology training in London. This included Oculoplastic fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital and The Western Eye Hospital during which he received advanced training in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the periocular region and surrounding areas.

He has held a NHS Consultant position at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge since 2006 and was previously Clinical lead in Ophthalmology at Addenbrookes until last year. He is a member of The British Oculoplastic Surgeons Society (BOPSS) and European Society of Oculoplastic Reconstructive Surgeons (ESOPRS). He runs a variety of surgical training courses for national and international delegates and was previously training director for Ophthalmic Surgical Training in Cambridge. He is a frequent guest speaker at national and international courses and conferences. His main area of practice is Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery including both functional problems, such as periocular tumours, ptosis (droopy upper eyelid), entropion and ectropion and Cosmetic eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), brow lifts, Botox and facial fillers.

He has particular expertise in transconjunctival minimally invasive lower lid blepharoplasty and endoscopic lacrimal surgery.

He is a keen traveller and has worked abroad for medical charities in rural Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Vietnam and China.

In his spare time he likes ski mountaineering, climbing, cooking food and eating and spending time with his family.
