Rebecca Ford is a consultant oculoplastic and orbital surgeon at Bristol Eye Hospital, UK, where she has also served as service lead and Clinical Director. She qualified from Oxford University in 1997 and has an MA in Anatomy from Cambridge University, and trained in ophthalmology in London. She has a special interest in thyroid eye disease and is Chair of the Thyroid Eye disease Charitable Trust, a UK-based charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with TED. She is the editor of a forthcoming open-access textbook on TED to be published by Springer.
Rebecca’s other focus is medical education. She has a Masters in Surgical Education from Imperial College London and served as Chair of the RCOphth Education Committee 2021-25. She is the Head of the Severn School of Ophthalmology residency program, and also supervises a popular oculoplastics fellowship. She is on the IOFF exams committee and is an advisor for the COECSA exams. Rebecca is on the committee of Women in Vision UK and hosted their conference in Bristol in 2024. She loves travel and has done voluntary teaching in China, Indonesia and Cambodia. Outside medicine she enjoys scuba diving and fosters cats.
