Giorgio Albanese is the newly appointed Oculoplastic and Orbital Consultant at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UK. Giorgio has been working as Senior Fellow in Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery at University Hospitals of Leicester and he was the former Oculoplastics Fellow at Nottingham University Hospitals, where he gained extensive experience across the full range of eyelid, lacrimal, reconstructive, orbital and paediatric oculoplastic surgery.

Giorgio has spent most of his training between Italy, USA and UK where he decided to pursue his career as oculoplastic and orbital surgeon. Giorgio has developed a strong interest in clinical research, as clearly reflected by his publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is also reviewer for the European Journal of Ophthalmology and member of the Italian Society of Oculoplastic Surgery (SICOP). Giorgio has attended as speaker many national and international meetings, including BOPSS and ESOPRS.

Giorgio is an avid runner with a background as 400mt athlete and this year he is organising the inaugural 5k BOPSS run.
