Professor Diana Harcourt is a health psychologist at the Centre for Appearance Research at the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE, Bristol) www.uwe.ac.uk/car. She has been researching people’s experiences of appearance-related issues for more than 25 years, particularly the experiences and support needs of people whose appearance is ‘different’ or changed as a result of health conditions or injuries. She leads a team of researchers who are working with charities that support people with appearance-altering conditions, with the ultimate aim of increasing access to evidence-based support.
