Dr Sumit Das BSc FRCA is a Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist at Oxford University NHS foundation trust (appointed 2006) and a previous Clinical Lead for Paediatric Anaesthesia. He studied at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School, London and trained in anaesthesia in Wessex and worked as a Fellow for one year in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA.
His clinical interests are anaesthesia for craniofacial surgery, interventional radiology, oculoplastic and general plastic surgery. Dr Das has lectured nationally and internationally on these topics. He has a longstanding interest in online education, (co-founder of AnaesthesiaUK.com), and high fidelity simulation. In 2021, he was elected Honorary Secretary of the Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists (APA). Dr Das is Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee and Lead for Paediatric Anaesthesia for the Nuffield Manor Hospital. Dr Das became an Education Editor for the research journal, Pediatric Anesthesia. In 2022, Dr Das became the first Anaesthetist to be elected a full member of the European Society for Craniofacial Surgery (ESCFS).
In his private practice, Dr Das anaesthetises adults and children in Oxford undergoing surgery by Messrs Norris, Parulekar and Professor MacLaren.
