Simon was appointed in 2003 to The Royal London Hospital, and has developed and led the Craniofacial Trauma Team to date. He has considerable experience in the management and treatment of complex facial injuries. He is an editorial board member for trauma in the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Injury.
He has convened and lectured in numerous maxillofacial trauma courses in the UK and Internationally. He has published invited chapters in facial trauma radiology and maxillofacial trauma. He has written three textbooks on Craniomaxillofacial Trauma, and contributed to Gray’s Anatomy and other anatomical textbooks. He has published numerous scientific articles in refereed journals on the treatment of maxillofacial trauma, and invited articles and editorials.
He has just completed a three year term as Lead for the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Trauma Special Interest Group. He has managed facial injuries in 3 Major Incidents – 7/7, Westminster 2017, London Bridge 2017.
His research interests are centered around risk stratification for complex facial injury, and Finite element modelling of Craniofacial Fractures.
