Reception Venue



The drinks reception is open to all Scientific Meeting (Thursday & Friday) ticket holders. Bristol is an exciting city with a rich heritage. Our reception will be held on Wednesday June 19th at the SS Great Britain which was designed by the greatest engineer of the 19thcentury, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. At the time of her launch in 1843 she was the largest ship in the world, a truly revolutionary vessel and fore-runner of all modern shipping vessels. There will be an opportunity to visit the museum and explore the ship, whist enjoying canapés and a few drinks! For more information please go to www.ssgreatbritain.org

Dinner Venue



The Gala dinner will be held in Leigh Court,  a Grade II* listed mansion house built in 1814 from Bath stone. Externally, it follows the graceful Palladian architectural style, while inside the bold Greek Revival style is complemented by striking 19th century decor. The organising committee for the Annual Scientific Meeting of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society Meeting (BOPSS) 2013 would like to warmly welcome you Bristol.

The meeting will be held on 19-21st June at the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel in the centre of the city, well located for access to the waterfront.

The meeting will start on Wednesday 19th with a ‘Recent Advances’ Day. This is aimed at Consultants and senior trainees. On the 20th there will be the Allied Professionals Day, which is a highly popular recent addition to the overall programme. This is aimed at nurses, orthoptists, and ocular prosthetists and will provide a series of up-date sessions.

The Scientific Meeting will be held on 20-21st June and will include round table discussions, rapid fire and poster presentations and a debate which we hope will provide lots of discussion.

We are delighted to welcome two keynote speakers:-

Dr Dan Alam MD:

Head and Neck/Facial Plastic Surgeon from The Cleveland Clinic, Ohio and the primary microvascular surgeon in the first facial transplant performed in the USA. He is head of the Section of Facial Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Head and Neck Institute at the Cleveland Clinic.

Dr Dan DeAngelis MD FRCSC:

Assistant Professor, University of Toronto and Staff Ophthalmologist at The Hospital for Sick Kids, Toronto. He is a paediatric oculoplastic surgeon, with a special interest in trauma and oncology.
