Presentation & No. of Slides

You have 4 minutes to present, followed by 1 minute for discussion

We recommend that you have no more than 8 slides and a maximum of 12 slides (including your title/acknowledgement). Slides should NOT contain your entire presentation. Best practice is that a slide should be read and understood in 30 seconds or less. If you are using images, please use the highest resolution possible.

Format of presentation

Your presentation must be in PowerPoint. The format of the screen will be wide screen. Please make sure that your PowerPoint presentation is created in 16:9 (wide screen) format. In Microsoft Office 2013 and later versions the default format is now 16:9 (wide screen format). This is NOT the default setting for earlier versions therefore you will have to change your slide master BEFORE creating your PowerPoint slides. Failure to do this will result in your slides displaying incorrectly.

Audio and Video

If your presentation has audio please draw our attention to this. You should make sure your audio format is: .aiff, .au, .mid or .midi, .mp3, .wav, .wma

If your presentation has video in it, please draw this to our attention. Please note that different versions of Microsoft Office support different video file formats. We therefore strongly recommend that you use Microsoft Office 2013 or later versions which support the following video files: .mp4 videos encoded with H.264 video (a.k.a. MPEG-4 AVC) .mp4, .m4v, .mov; also supported are: Adobe Flash Media .swf, Windows Media file .asf, Windows Video file .avi, Movie file .mpg or .mpeg, Windows Media Video file .wmv

In Microsoft Office 2010 and later videos are embedded into the presentation rather than linked as with older versions.   If using an older version, please provide your presentation with the separate video files with a clear indication in the presentation where each video should be embedded.

Timing

The programme is tightly scheduled and it is essential that your talk does not overrun the four minutes presentation time that you have been allotted. You will be given a one-minute warning and the moderator will ask you to stop if you overrun your four minutes.
