Tim Blackburn was appointed a Consultant Maxillo-Facial Surgeon in Manchester Royal
Infirmary in 2008, then Clinical Director from 2013-2017. His special interests are head and
neck microvascular reconstruction, facial reanimation and facial aesthetic surgery. He has
completed clinical fellowships / observerships related to facial rehabilitation surgery in New
York, Boston, Toronto, Milan, Paris, Austria, Germany and London. He has held various
positions including Secretary-General of the International Academy of Oral and Facial
Rehabilitation, on MAC of Facial Palsy UK since 2013, speciality examiner for JCIE, Medical
Director of skin knowledge network laser clinic in Manchester since 2007, and is a Certified
Cosmetic Surgeon with the RCS England. Tim routinely performs collaborative surgery with
the orbital and oculoplastic team in Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, the Manchester skull
base team in Salford Royal Hospital, various specialities in Royal Manchester Children’s
Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary. He is member for both the adults and childrens
MDT facial palsy clinics at Manchester Foundation NHS Trust in Manchester Royal Eye
Hospital and Manchester Royal Children’s Hospitals respetively.
